I wonder if anyone noticed the very noisy vocal issues that get brought up around election time are the ones the politicians really don't care about?
Abortion, gay marriage, right to carry, drugs, etc... The politicians don't actually care about these issues, outside of being the issues that get them votes. All the politicians care about is "steering the flow of money" once they get in office. Steer that river of dollars to friends and friends of friends so it will benefit themselves later down the road, or their families, or other benefits indirectly. Also pushing agendas which may or may not have something to do with the issues they don't care about.
Even social programs aren't really to help the people who need help. If they were they would be helping people instead of enabling people. Enabling makes you popular and secures votes.
Yep - politics - fooling the people to extract and steer the dollars.
